Got Glue?
Got Glue? Glue isn't just for shoes and model planes down here. Sadly for these kids, shoe glue is perfectly palatable here. In America, oil of mustard is added to most inhalable glues to render them useless (oil of mustard is so noxious that junkies give up trying before getting a hit). H.B. Fuller (located in Minnesota), one of largest global shoe glue makers, intentionally leaves oil of mustard out of their products, Testors, who apparently has a concience, does not.I shot these two photos while sitting in traffic in downtown La Paz. I was on my way to the airport for a flight to Sucre. I bought a ticket for Saturday, but the date written on the ticket was Sunday (somehow I missed that), I know that if your English is a little rough, Saturday and Sunday to sound pretty similar. Not being able to speak enough Spanish to really go through the nuances of a ticket purchase, I really cannot complain too much. Anyway, I would be able to enjoy another day in La Paz. My consolation thought was the realization that even with the 24 hour delay, I would get into Sucre only a few hours later than if I took a bus. The bus ride is listed as 20 hours, that is if the bus does not break down (I once covered 220km in 11 hours by bus in Bolivia, the bus broke down many times, snapped leaf springs, etc.). Screw that, I'll take in the countryside from the comfort of a 3rd world 727. I am a little concerned about the name of the airline, AeroSur, does that translate to this Airline is headed South?
