Mmm, Gritty Kumys, Kyrgyzstan 2003

The joys of over enthusiastic hospitality. Descending to Lake Ssong-Kul, I had just rode through a snow shower when I was motioned over my the man on the right. So, off the road and across the fields I peddled for maybe a 100 meters or so until I reached their tent where I was served an obligatory bowl of kumys. The kumys had fermented quite nicely in an old USAID cooking oil jug.
