Lodging
A portrait of a kind family that offered me lodging through the Shepard's Life program. This town really sucked. After riding over a roadless pass and then feeling my way along poorly charted dirt paths, and then roads, I finally made found this place to sleep.
However, it wasn't more then ten minutes into walking around town before someone tried to rob me. I was tiring of him grabbing at my bag (the one with my camera, passport, money...), seconds from punching him in the face, his friend showed up and dragged him off. Whew, dodged that one! But, one corner and only seconds later a group of idle men lurched to their feet and came after me. Thankfully a truck was approaching and I led them through its oncoming path, leaving the driver to deal with my drunk pursuers. At this point, I just ran back to their house. My fun was almost over, I wandered out into the backyard to watch the father (back row, center) and others putting up hay, when one of those guys (also drunk) became hostile. Thankfully one of the daughters (front row, right) talked some sense into him. At this point it was late in the day, so I ate dinner and turned in early. I was glad to ride out of town the next day.
